Material and other engineering properties in STEP

ISO 10303 Product data representation and exchange (STEP) is a multi-part standard for the computerisation of product and process data at all stages of the product life-cycle

ISO 10303-45 defines an information model that specifies the representation of material and other engineering properties of a product

ISO 10303-45 provides generic data structures for:

• numerical and descriptive property values;
• the conditions in which the property values are valid;
• the chemical composition of a product;
• the uncertainty and reliability of product data;
• the properties of parts of products;
• directional properties and test conditions.

Edition 2 of ISO 10303-45 ( to be published) provides the capability for values of properties and chemical compositions to be represented as mathematical expressions and for these expression qualified as to their reliability and uncertainty.
